Officially known as the Independent State of Samoa, this group of islands comprises the western half of the Samoan Archipelago. Samoa is located in the South Pacific Ocean about halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand.
American Samoa is a group of islands on the eastern portion of the Samoan Archipelago. They are located in the South Pacific Ocean and have been a territory of the United States of America since 1900.
